Thanks, Ashley for posting this. It's because of Grace's faith that Jesus has paid for all her sins and has reconciled her to God that she can have an eternal perspective on life and death.
"So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal." (2 Corinthians 4:16-18 ESV)
Am I so arrogant to believe there is reason behind this suffering? Are we so conceited to believe that this universe and indeed, this world revolve around we humans? I certainly hope not. In my experience, I've come to understand that we can be, and most likely are, just another part of the giant algorithm called life. Is there a reason? None that my feeble mind can comprehend. Does that upset me? No. Life is beautiful and, ugly as death can be, I find it to be just another equation, another part of the greater whole. Is there fear in this understanding? Sure. No one wants to admit oblivion. But in that understanding, I've come to understand and love life as I never before could. Rest now, Grace. I truly hope your beliefs and and understandings have led you to peace.

A good message that I think about frequently: Christ and Cancer
I can only wonder what sins Grace could have possibly committed that CANCER would be what Jesus chose to punish her with.

Beliefs and lack thereof aside, it was her decision. I think she would have been very thankful for the friendship you were able to share with her.
